The cat Marik liked walking around his native Mariupol the most, eating pancakes with sour cream and chatting with new friends. These stocky guys had unusual names: Redis, Kalyna, Khasan, Taurus, - like cats. So Marik felt among them, as if among his own - among cats.
But trouble came to Mariupol: a nasty and envious giant foot-and-mouth disease, which was cunningly lurking behind the fence, decided to destroy this beautiful city on the shores of the Sea of Azov. And then the Azov friends of the cat Marik, and with them the cat himself, bravely stood up for what they loved. They became like one big Azov family, where everyone calls each other "friend" and is ready to defend their home to the last.
The fairy tale contains episodes that echo the events in Mariupol in late winter and spring 2022, so adults who will purchase the book should make sure that there are no sensitive moments for their child.
Everyone has a place they call home. Which is home to them. Which they love and care about. And when someone or something threatens their home, the brave and courageous stand up to defend it. In wartime, it is sometimes difficult for adults to find the words to explain to children who the enemy is and why he destroys what we love, why houses are collapsing and how Ukrainian soldiers are trying to stop it all. And here a fairy tale comes to the rescue. Because a fairy tale is not so scary anymore. And in a fairy tale, good always triumphs over evil.
