Not bad so far

This is one of the most famous stories of the Cold War. Five young men with pistols against twenty thousand soldiers of the East German People's Police, armed to the teeth, who managed to sneak into free West Berlin. The story of the Mashin brothers and their family was told by the writer Jan Novak in the novel "It's not bad at the moment", like a tense, crazy western, and he received the Magnesia Litera award for the best book of the year for it. The script was written by the artist Jaromir 99, who created a dramatic and visually strong comic in a special noir style.

Yaromir 99 (born in 1963) My full name is Yaromir Shveidik, I live half in the world of comics, half in the world of music. Known as a member of the bands "Priessnitz" and Umakart, as well as the artist of the Alois Nebel trilogy. (2003). He was also the author of the script and the artist of its successful film version (2011), which won the award of the European Film Academy in the "best cartoon" category. For the author's comic "Bomber" (2007) won the Muriel Award. For the British publishing house Selfmade hero created a comic version of "The Castle"; F. Kafka (2013, Eisner Award nomination). He collaborated with Jan Novak on the comic book "Zatopek". (published by Paseka Argo, 2016). Lives in Prague.

Jan Novak (born 1953) Leading Czech writer, translator and documentarian. In 1969, he emigrated with his parents through Austria to the USA, lived in Chicago, now he is back home in the Czech Republic. His novel "Not bad at the moment" (2004, published by Paseka – Argo, 2011), the comic version of which you are holding in your hands, won the Magnesia Litera award as the best book of 2005. In publishing houses "Argo" and "Apiary" he also published the biography of Milos Forman "What do I know there?" (2013) and a conversation with John Bock "Life beyond categories" (2015). His first comic under the short name "Zatopek" (2016) was translated into five languages.
